Plane 2 — GTD email inbox
Process the inbox with GTD cards and the four swipe gestures, and turn an email into a task or project.
The other side of the Relationships Plane is your email, processed with a method. This inbox follows the GTD approach: every email comes in, you decide, and it moves on its way.
What you need before you start
- Organization mode active (switch it from your avatar menu).
- A connected IMAP email account. The
_o42/Actionable,_o42/WaitingFor,_o42/Reference,_o42/Someday, and_o42/Processedfolders create themselves.
The inbox
On the left you have your GTD folders with live counts: Inbox, Actionable, Waiting For, Reference, and Someday. In the center, the deck of emails — one card at a time, with a progress bar. The idea is to reach Inbox Zero by processing, not piling up.
Every card carries AI extras: a summary from «o», the number of detected actions, and even a sentiment emoji. You read fast and decide.
The four gestures
An always-visible swipe guide reminds you of the method:
← Reference
Swiping left files the email as material to keep, not act on.
→ Actionable
Swiping right makes it actionable and opens the quick actions panel: you can link it to a project or task, create a task or an issue, or mark it “Waiting For.” For example, turning the email into a task inside an existing project keeps the email linked and the work captured.
↑ Someday
Swiping up sends it to Someday: ideas and pending items that aren’t for now.
↓ Delete
Swiping down deletes it, with a clear confirmation before anything irreversible.
As you process, every email moves to its matching folder on the server, inside the
_o42 structure. Your real inbox ends up organized, not just o42’s view of it. And
when you clear it, o42 celebrates with you — Inbox Zero by method, not by effort.
